Enjoy today’s feature in the Moxie section of our Charleston newspaper, The Post and Courier! Thanks to writer, Holly Fisher, for the interview! It was a really fun process and one I was proud to share in with our WONDERFUL bride, Judith Leventhal. We are looking so forward to a big planning session with Judith, her groom Tony and their families on Monday! Judith & Tony have a BIG weekend ahead…their engagement party! It just so happens that the couple’s anniversary falls on Monday. We have big day planned for the pair filled with a floral & design meeting, a site visit to the William Aiken House, the wedding venue, and a very special rehearsal dinner menu tasting with Cru Catering. It is all going to be so much fun! We can’t wait & are so happy for Judith & Tony!
Here’s a snippet from the write-up!
Pink and green, yellow and blue, red and black. Wedding colors are that two-tone palette that dictate the color of everything from the invitations to the bridesmaid dresses.
Event planner and designer Kristin Newman of Kristin Newman Designs LLC is steering her brides away from the more traditional concept of wedding colors and toward an approach that mimics interior design. “It’s not colors, but an overall design palette,” she said.
“It’s about complementary hues that create a more rounded design experience that’s evocative of a couple’s lifestyle rather than a party,” she added.
Newman likens it to selecting colors for your home: You don’t use only two colors throughout your entire house.
“Brides find it relieving. We are moving away from that matchy-matchy concept,” Newman said.
Judith Leventhal is working with Newman to plan her Oct. 13 wedding at the William Aiken House. She went into the planning process with a cobalt blue focus. But now she’s adopted the idea of incorporating her love of blue into the design process without having everything a single shade, she said.
